Features - Various Camera/Control/Misc stuff
Sorry for the long list. As a long time Singularity user looking to migrate, who specializes in non standard avatars, there were a few basic things that I found difficult to work without that might be pointless for most. None of it is urgent.
Summary
Various camera and control features, mostly available in other clients.
- Shift/Ctrl + Mousewheel to pan the view angle and view height
- Number values in View Preferences beside the sliders for View Angle and Distance
- Show the distance beside the name of the person in Nearby People list
- X/Y/Z Offset for Mouselook Camera
- Override keys/hotkeys with gestures
- Disable Black on Teleport Screen
- My Outfits Floater
- Nimble (disable waiting for pre-jump and landing animations)
- Being able to resize the inventory smaller.
How would you like the feature to work?
Shift/Ctrl + Mousewheel to pan the view angle and view height
In other viewers such as Singularity, you may enable this in preferences.
- By holding Shift and scrolling the mouse wheel, the height of the camera is adjusted up and down.
- By holding Ctrl and scrolling the mouse wheel, the pitch of the camera is adjusted up and down.
Number values in View Preferences beside the sliders for View Angle and Distance
In the preferences for the camera/view, please allow the user to put in a specific number in an input box instead of using the slider.
Show the distance beside the name of the person in Nearby People list
In other viewers, the radar would give the distance and position beside their name.
X/Y/Z Offset for Mouselook Camera
A preference to offset the position of the camera for mouselook.
Override keys/hotkeys with gestures
If a gesture is set on the same key combination as a UI element or control, allow the gesture to take priority. An option toggleable in preferences.
Disable Black on Teleport Screen
A preference option to not cover the screen in blackness when a teleport is attempted.
My Outfits Floater
A floater that displays only the various outfits in the My Outfits inventory folder.
Nimble (disable waiting for pre-jump and landing animations)
An option to disable waiting for the pre-jump and landing animations, that prevents movement for a brief moment when you land.
Being able to resize the inventory smaller.
Exactly what it says on the tin.
Why is this feature important to you? How would it benefit the community?
- Shift/Ctrl + Mousewheel to pan the view angle and view height
- X/Y/Z Offset for Mouselook Camera
For these two options, the real benefit would be for non standard sized or shaped avatars.
- Camera pan/tilt would help with being able to see over the shoulder of giant avatars.
- Dragons have their heads far from the center of the body. In mouselook you would only see from the middle of the avatar. Someone may look far away when in reality you're headbutting them. X/Y/Z Offset would allow this to be fixed.
- Z Offset is especially important because there is an oversight that exists in all viewers where the Z Offset of mesh upload amplifies the Z Offset of the camera in mouselook mode, meaning the larger the avatar the higher above the head the camera will be in mouselook mode. (Most notable in meshes uploaded at a higher Z Offset than 3. This would affect for instance Rin's Titaness. This is something nobody was able to catch before.)
Show the distance beside the name of the person in Nearby People list
Knowing how far someone is is real handy. Especially for chat range.
Number values in View Preferences beside the sliders for View Angle and Distance
Accidentally hitting Ctrl + 7 or 8 or whatever to reset the camera angle and then trying to set it back to what you had before is incredibly annoying. I'd rather just type in 1.51. Camera distance is less important but still would be appreciated.
Override keys/hotkeys with gestures
Useful for people who script. Don't want F1 to pull up Help? Want it to be something else instead? Just make a gesture that says something on another channel when F1 is hit. (Personally I use Ctrl 1 to = for various functions. Singularity allows this)
Disable Black on Teleport Screen
If your net sucks and you go to teleport somewhere mid convo with someone, it sucks if you have to wait 3-4 minutes to respond to them.
My Outfits Floater
Being able to switch outfits without going through your inventory to look for the folder is really handy, especially if you're copying and pasting links into a new outfit you're making. (Singularity has this)
Nimble (disable waiting for pre-jump and landing animations)
It's a feature in the other big viewers. It makes moving around easier/less annoying for some.
Being able to resize the inventory smaller.
That inventory window is huge. A bit annoying for creators who have their inventory open all the time.

Thanks for looking!
