Objects well beyond draw distance (possibly drawdistance x2) cast shadows on the scene.

Summary

Objects well beyond draw distance cast shadows on the scene. My testing suggests this MIGHT be draw distance 2x but I can't be sure without more tests.

This is an ancient bug which predates EEP. I just keep forgetting about it until it happens to me and then I'm miffed.

This exists in non-alchemy viewers as well.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Go to a clear open sim where you have rez rights at elevation 0.
  2. Set windlight to noon.
  3. Set draw distance to 256
  4. Fly
  5. /gth 500
  6. Rez a 64 x 64 platform at your position
  7. /gth 0
  8. You are now in the shadow of a platform 500 meters above you.
  9. Set draw distance slightly closer, I used 224 because it was the next pip on the graphics slider.
  10. The shadow is now gone.

What is the current bug behavior?

See description

What is the expected correct behavior?

Objects 256 meters away should be casting shadows only.
